Nemas Gardens Community Engagement serves the purpose of introducing the company, our team, and our initiatives to the community. Our vision is to connect with a global community to share education, encouragement and empowerment for agriculture and farming at home. Our purpose is to unite people from all walks of life in this literal groundbreaking activity to promote and provide an improved quality of life by cultivating healthy options.

At Martin Luther King Middle School on 10/21/2025 you will have an opportunity to hear from CEO, Kevin Alsop about how was raised as a city kid in Philly and decided to become an Urban Farmer, leaving a six-figure job behind. You will also learn about how to start a garden of your own, no matter how small, so that you too can grow your own food. We will be sharing a few value-added products for purchase and every attendee will receive a Nemas Gardens Herb Garden Starter Kit to begin your journey as you learn how to Grow With Us year round.

It’s back to school—and back to the garden!

As the school bells ring and hallways fill with the buzz of a new academic year, Nemas Gardens is thrilled to announce the return of our Afterschool Garden Clubs across Prince George’s County. These programs aren’t just about planting seeds—they’re about growing minds, nurturing wellness, and cultivating community.

Pickling is a versatile preservation method that can be applied to a wide range of fruits and vegetables. Some of the most common options include cucumbers, carrots, radishes, and various types of peppers. Each type of vegetable or fruit offers unique flavors and textures once pickled, making them popular choices in different cuisines.

Gardening has a quiet way of teaching us about abundance. What starts as a single seed or a handful of compost can, with time and care, become a thriving ecosystem. For me, gardening is a reminder that nature doesn’t just give—it multiplies. Plants spread, reseed, and return year after year, turning even the smallest effort into something generous and lasting.
