Growing your own herbs has never been easier or more fun! This step-by-step guide will walk you through everything you need to get your indoor herb garden thriving. Prefer watching? Check out the video tutorial above!
What's in Your Kit?
Your Herb Garden Starter Kit with Soil comes with everything you need to get started. Inside you'll find two bottle squeezers for warm water, a small burlap sack filled with soil, a 4-inch plastic pot with drainage holes at the bottom, a dome lid to create humidity, a packet of seeds, a plant label, and a printed copy of these instructions.
A Quick Tip Before You Start
You have two options when it comes to planting. You can transfer the soil into the plastic pot, or you can plant directly inside the burlap sack for a less messy experience. Both methods work great, so go with whatever feels right for you!
Step-by-Step Planting Guide
Step 1: Open and loosen the soil. Open up your burlap sack and give the soil a gentle fluff. Loosening it helps your seeds breathe and root easily right from the start.
Step 2: Choose your planting spot. Transfer the soil into your plastic pot or leave it in the sack. Either way, make sure the soil is settled and ready to go.
Step 3: Moisten the soil with warm water. Use your bottle squeezers to gently water the soil. Warm water works best! You want the soil to feel damp but not soaking wet.
Step 4: Add your seeds. Sprinkle your seeds over the moistened soil following the instructions included in your kit. A little goes a long way here!
Step 5: Cover with a thin layer of soil. Lightly cover your seeds with a bit more soil to tuck them in and help them germinate.
Step 6: Add your plant label. Place your plant label in the pot so you know exactly what is growing, especially helpful if you are starting more than one herb at a time.
Step 7: Place the dome lid on top. Put the dome lid over your pot to create a warm, humid environment for your seeds. This helps lock in moisture and gives your seeds the best possible start indoors.
What Happens Next?
Keep your kit in a warm spot with plenty of light and check the soil moisture regularly. Once your seedlings are strong and healthy, you can transplant them into a larger pot or move them to an outdoor garden when the time is right.
Your kit also includes a printed copy of these instructions, so you will always have them handy right at your planting station.
Happy growing!
