How to Use Your Herb Garden Starter Kit with Pellets

If you love the idea of growing your own herbs indoors, this kit makes it simple and fun! Whether your kit includes peat or coco coir pellets, the steps are the same and you will be planting in no time.

What's in Your Kit

Your Herb Garden Starter Kit with a pellet, either a peat or coco coir pellet, and includes two bottle squeezers for warm water, a 4-inch plastic pot with drainage holes at the bottom, a dome lid to create humidity, a packet of seeds, a plant label, and a printed copy of these instructions.

Step-by-Step Planting Guide

Step 1: Set up your pellets. Place your pellets inside your pot. Make sure each pellet is positioned with the side that has a small circle facing up. That little circle is your guide for where the seeds will go!

Step 2: Douse your pellets with hot water. This is where things get exciting! Pour hot water over your pellets and watch them expand. The hotter the water, the faster they will grow. Give them a moment to fully absorb the water before moving on.

Step 3: Give your pellets a gentle squeeze. Once your pellets have expanded, give each one a soft squeeze to loosen it up a bit. This makes it easier to work with in the next step.

Step 4: Create a small hole for your seeds. Using your finger, gently press a small hole in the center of each pellet right where that little circle is. Make sure the hole is not too deep, just enough to place your seeds comfortably inside.

Step 5: Add your seeds. Place your seeds into the holes following the instructions included in your kit.

Step 6: Cover your seeds. Gently pinch the pellet back together over the hole to cover your seeds. The pellet material does all the work here, no extra soil needed!

Step 7: Add your plant label. Place your plant label in the pot so you always know what is growing.

Step 8: Place the dome lid on top. Close the dome lid over your pot to lock in warmth and humidity. This gives your seeds the cozy environment they need to germinate and start growing indoors.

What Happens Next?

Keep your kit in a warm spot with plenty of light and keep an eye out for your first sprouts! Once your seedlings are strong and healthy, you can transplant them into a larger pot or move them outdoors when the time is right.

Your kit also includes a printed copy of these instructions so you will always have them handy right at your planting station.

Happy growing!
